The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Digital Channels Reaction Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms. The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Changes Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
