Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
