In the final seconds, pure elation broke out for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola in a state of despair and provided the stand-in Chelsea manager a career-defining moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench stood the most decorated manager of his time, a man with four decades of silverware for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, stood a former coach at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and stepped up to make his senior managerial bow after being seconded from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.
