Arteta Hails ‘More Reliable’ Team and Acknowledges Havertz Setback.

Arsenal's manager has expressed confidence that his team can persist in handling with fitness issues after confirming that attacker Kai Havertz will not return for a few more weeks.

Extended Absence for German Star

The Germany international has been absent since August due to an operation on his knee. Hoped to come back sooner, Arteta revealed the player encountered a problem when stepping up his recovery and failed to reach “the required stage.”

“We learned, and we were able to put together a team that is considerably steadier and has increased versatility,” stated the manager.

Selection Dilemma for Midweek Fixture

This update leaves a tactical puzzle for Wednesday’s home game against Brentford. A decision is required between persisting with Mikel Merino, who found the net playing out of position against Chelsea, or recalling Viktor Gyökeres, who featured briefly from a muscle injury in the latter stages. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus is also an option following a lengthy absence.

Defensive Concerns Persist

More doubts involve centre-back William Saliba and winger Leandro Trossard, who sat out the Stamford Bridge game. Consequently, summer signings Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are likely to keep their places in the backline for the Premier League front-runners.

The manager is convinced the significant outlay on squad depth in the last transfer window has placed the club in a much stronger position to handle such setbacks.

Greater Options Key to Title Challenge

Questioned if more options was helping their championship push, Arteta was emphatic. “Yes, since the current term has been worse in the attacking line, and now the problems with the backline,” he continued.

“Our previous experiences taught us that we must deploy players in different positions, and they need to be prepared to fulfil different roles if we want to compete at this level. And the example of Mikel is just the best one.”

Manager’s Sympathy for Frustrated Star

Commenting on the complication previously mentioned by Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided additional context. “He was doing everything. He was unable to progress to the required step and now the signs are like we have overcome that hurdle.”

The manager conveyed his personal desire to have him back. “Everyone is eager to have him. Truly, Havertz is someone that, in my view, I value highly for the qualities he offers to the team, but his character, his nature. I observe his frustration being outside.”

“His fitness history is outstanding, he’s been always available, and I can’t wait to have him back involved and playing because I believe it’s going to be a significant uplift.”
